Wall Opening Reinforcement tool for ALLPLAN users

ALLTO has released tools that automate the modeling of reinforcement for wall opening in ALLPLAN. Now it’s time to introduce it.

ALLPLAN PythonParts for Wall Opening Reinforcement makes it efficient to model main rebar, stirrups, side bar, calculate overlap and easily get updated all rebar you want to edit… a task that structural engineers have to spend a lot of time on if they’re stuck doing it manually.

Here’s the basic workflow for using Wall Opening Reinforcement.

1. Open ALLTO window of Wall opening reinforcement and create new configuration

In ‘general’ tab, you can define horizontal and vertical concrete cover, hook length and also hook angel. Input distance for the additional rebar.

2. Stirrup Rebar

Firstly, go to Setting in ALLPLAN to set up the stirrup. Segment length in your Allplan option is outer or axis dimensions.

Then, go to ‘setting’ setting icon - by ALLTO to set Stirrup segment length. It should be the same with segment length in Allplan option.

In ‘Stirrup’ tab, you can define which side should have stirrup or not. It can be open or closed stirrup. You can also define diameter, spacing and length for stirrup.

Then, choose the icon ‘door’ door - by ALLTO or ‘window’ window - by ALLTO or ‘any object’ any object - by ALLTO to create reinforcement.

3. Get Geometry

Firstly, input maximum stirrup length you want in ‘setting’ setting icon - by ALLTO

Then, click ‘get geometry’ button add column - by ALLTO and choose the opening you want to get geometry.

4. Additional Rebar

Additional rebar on each side can be define.

  • Input start and end overlap.
  • Horizontal rebar can have hook in both sides. Set hook length to 0 to remove the hook.
  • 3 layers of additional rebars can be defined.

If you ticked ‘adjust additional to close stirrup’ in ‘general’ tab, additional rebar will be adapted to the length of this closed stirrup.

5. Diagonal rebar

You can define diagonal rebar on each side in ‘diagonal’ tab.

6. Extra stirrup rebar

Included extra stirrup rebar in ‘extra stirrup’ tab. Creating ‘corner rebar’ if needed.

7. Starter Rebar

Starter rebar for vertical rebar can also be defined.

8. Calculating Overlap

Overlap can be input automatically based on diameter. Click on the button calculate overlap 1 - by ALLTO

You can also manage the calculation in ‘setting’, setting icon - by ALLTO

  • Select database to calculate overlap length.

When looking for ways to increase the efficiency of reinforcement detailing, a new software package can provide the leap in functionality that is required to achieve improved productivity. However, it is a decision with long-lasting consequences for your organization, so getting it right takes time.

8. Save and Load Favorite

You can save your all input as a favourite file (.json). Then you will see a pop up box said ‘save data sucessfully’.

10. Create as reinforcement or PythonPart element

You can create reinforcements as normal rebars or PythonPart element with position name.

Click ‘door’ door - by ALLTO or ‘window’ window - by ALLTO or ‘any object’ any object - by ALLTO to create one python part element, also contain reinforcement. You can double click to python part element to modify it. You are freely copy, paste/move/rotate the python part element.

11. Edit and Automate updating by double click or by defined name

  • Click any PythonPart element and modify it. Then, click to update and re-confirm the message you want to update. All the PythonPart elements with same shape and position name will be updated.
